Guy Pidgeon, DVM, Dipl. ACVIM
Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Pidgeon, Chief Executive Officer of the Western Veterinary Conference based in Las Vegas, received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1975 from Colorado State University. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veteirnary Internal Medicine and served that organization in a number of elected offices culminating in a term as Chairman of the Board of Regents. Dr. Pidgeon was a member of the faculty at Auburn University in Alabama for 12 years. In 1990, he joined Hill's Pet Nutrition, Inc. as Associate Director of Veterinary Affairs and was later promoted to Director of the Department. Dr. Pidgeon was named CEO of the Animal Medical Center in New York City in 1996 and was elected President of the Center's Board of Trustees in 1997. He joined the Western Veterinary Conference in May of 2006 as the Assistant Director and assumed his current role in October, 2007. Dr. Pidgeon received the Norden Pharmaceuticals Distinguished Professor award in 1984 and 1985. He was named the Auburn University Student Government Association Teacher of the Year for Veterinary Medicine in 1984 and 1990. In 2001, he was recognized as Veterinarian of the Year by the New York City Veterinary Medical Society. The Veterinary Specialists in Private Practice recognized Dr. Pidgeon with its inaugural "Spirit of Excellent" Award in 2005. Dr. Pidgeon and his wife, Rhoda, share their life with "Cera Tops," a Jack Russell Terrier.
David Little
Assistant Chief Executive Officer
David Little provides multi-faceted leadership for Western Veterinary Conference and the Oquendo Center through collaborative management of staffing, events, activities, and services of the organization. David has primary responsibility to ensure the Center’s adherence to animal health and welfare compliance regulations and policy. Prior to joining WVC in 2009, and relocating from Chicago to Las Vegas, David was Director of the American Veterinary Medical Association’s (AVMA) Convention and Meeting Planning Division. David is actively involved in the meeting and event planning industry through his work with the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and was recently elected to their Board of Directors. David earned his bachelor’s degree in sports marketing and management from Indiana University. His family holds a long history in the veterinary profession, father Bruce was a private practitioner for more than 20 years and most recently retired as AVMA Executive Vice President, and brother Tom is a thoroughbred horse practitioner in the Chicago-area.
Manolita Moore, MBA
Annual Conference Director
Manolita Moore is the Annual Conference Director for the Western Veterinary Conference (WVC), one of the world’s largest continuing education providers for veterinary professionals. She is directly responsible for the Annual Conference’s day-to-day operations and planning, including the management of the Exhibit Hall with 365,000 gross space, 800+ hours of Scientific & Educational Programs, Registration, Events & Services, Marketing, Hotel Contracts/Logistics, and Sponsorships. In conjunction with the CEO and Assistant CEO, Manolita interacts and provides recommendations to WVC Board of Directors on key operational decisions and strategies for the entire organization. Prior to joining WVC in 1998, Manolita was the Branch Administrator for the University of California, Davis, California Animal Health & Food Safety Laboratory-San Bernardino Branch. While at UC Davis (1988-1998), she served on various committees and received multiple employee awards. Manolita actively serves on the WVC’s Education, Operations & Standards, Finance, and Safety Committees. She is a 2010 graduate of the IAEE Robert L. Krakoff Future Leaders Institute and a current Board Member of IAEE, representing the Robert L. Krakoff seat (ex-officio, 2011). She also serves on the IAEE Southwest Chapter Board of Directors (2011-2013). Manolita has a B.S. in Business Management and Masters in Business Administration (MBA).
Don Waldron, DVM, Dipl. ACVS
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Don Waldron received his DVM from the University of Missouri in 1974 and then completed an internship at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston. Following this he worked as a private practitioner for three years. He completed his surgical residency at the University of Florida in 1980. Next, he became an instructor at the University of Florida from 1980-1982. From 1982-1988 he served as an Assistant and Associate Professor of Surgery at Louisiana State University. In 1988, he moved to Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine where he served as a professor of surgery for 20 years. Currently, Dr. Waldron is the Director of Specialty Services and a surgeon at the Veterinary Care Animal Hospital and Referral Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, examiner for the Clinical Proficiency Examination of the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates and a past Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. Dr. Waldron's interests are in soft tissue surgery, especially related to disease affecting the urinary system. He has authored and coauthored more than 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. Dr. Waldron is the current editor and author of the "Surgical Updates" column in Veterinary Forum and is the soft tissue editor of the fifth edition of Current Techniques in Small Animal Surgery (MJ Bojrab). Dr. Waldron is an active speaker in veterinary continuing education and has spoken at local, state, national, and international veterinary meetings and joined the Staff of the Western Veterinary Conference as Chief Medical Officer in April, 2012, overseeing the veterinary activities of the Oquendo Center.
