Course Description: This continuing education event consists of two parts:
Part 1: This course will start out with online learning. Three – two hour real-time interactive lectures will be conducted in advance of the course. These sessions are the lecture portion of the course and are required in order to complete the course. Sessions can be viewed live or reviewed after the session is posted online. These real time interactive lectures will be given on the 3 Wednesday evenings immediately before the course (January 24, 31 & February 7). The Q&A during the real time sessions of this course will be an audio presentation, please be prepared to listen. In addition to the sessions there will be supplemental library materials, interactive message board discussions and a mandatory online end-of-course test. Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the online end-of-course test is required to be considered for a course certificate of completion.
Part 2: The course continues with a two day hands on laboratory at the Oquendo Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. There will be laboratory sessions at the Oquendo Center in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday and Monday February 11-12, 2018. (The three online sessions must be completed prior to arriving at the Oquendo Center) This 2-day laboratory is designed to focus on canine and feline dentistry in order to strengthen the attendee’s knowledge and skills in dog and cat exodontia. Complete oral examination, charting, and treatment planning will be thoroughly reviewed. Discussion of intraoral radiographic acquisition and interpretation, periodontal disease, gingivostomatitis, tooth resorption, common oral tumors, and extraction techniques will be presented with numerous visual aids to enhance learning and increase retention for the attendees. Pathophysiology and treatment planning for the aforementioned diseases will be covered. Clinical cases will be used to set the stage for step-by-step presentations for canine tooth extractions with heavy emphasis on being able to predict the difficult tooth extraction, extraction pitfalls and complications will be presented to help attendees minimize complications and address complications if they should occur in clinical practice. The laboratory will provide the opportunity to put clinical skills into practice.
Coffee and snacks are provided throughout the day.
Lunch provided on full-day courses.
Dinners to go – We’ve found that at the end of a long course day participants are looking forward to returning to their hotel to relax. We realize that our preferred lodging partner doesn’t have a restaurant on site or located close to the hotel. To help make things easier for you we will provide a hot meal, at the end of each full course day, with to go containers so you can bring it back to the hotel with you. On the last day of the course we will provide something a little easier to transport for those heading to the airport. This will not apply to those courses that end midafternoon – only those that end at noon or 5:00PM.
