Course Agenda

About This Course

Gain new insight on CORA-based leveling osteotomy (CBLO) in this two-day course detailing this beneficial technique for the management of cranial cruciate ligament disease.

CBLO Explained

CORA based leveling osteotomy (CBLO) is a tibial plateau leveling procedure that combines the advantages of Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) and Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA). The osteotomy is centered on the anatomic CORA of the proximal tibia, achieving alignment of the proximal anatomic axis and distal anatomic axis of the tibia. In contrast, the TPLO results in caudal shift of the proximal anatomic axis and secondary translation. The TPA/PTA angle typically lies between 88 degrees and 90 degrees following CBLO. The osteotomy is stabilized with a CBLO bone plate, locking screws and a headless compression screw. Additional advantages of the CBLO include ease of surgical planning and technique, ability to add an adjunctive intracapsular graft or extracapsular suture, excellent long term functional results, normal long term appearance of articular cartilage, rapid healing of the osteotomy (6-7 weeks), ability to perform an osteotomy technique in juvenile patients, and application in cases with excessive slope.
