About This Course

This comprehensive dentistry course is designed to take a practitioner from admission of a patient to canine and feline oral surgery. Our board-certified dentists will guide you through the process of anesthesia, nerve blocks, and then obtaining radiographs. From there, you will understand the plan for treatment of dogs and cats and then have the hands-on, supervised laboratory sessions to gain confidence to enhance your dentistry service at your clinic. This course focuses not just on concepts, but our outstanding instructors will show you the tips and tricks as well as being available to answer your questions and help you perform procedures that you will be able to immediately apply to your clinic.

Course Objectives

  1. The importance of dental radiography to facilitate decision-making
  2. How to properly perform nerve blocks
  3. Proper selection and use of oral surgery instruments including root elevators and high speed drills
  4. How to perform surgical extraction of maxillary canine teeth, oral flaps, removal of alveolar bone and section teeth
  5. Proper closure of extraction site
  6. How to address common dental complications
  7. Periodontal therapy to save teeth
