Symposium Agenda

About the Lab

Small groups led by DACVAA Tamara Grubb and Mike Barletta will obtain hands-on exercises that emphasize best practices and techniques for local/regional analgesia in dogs and cats. Techniques using both canine and feline cadavers include incision and infiltration blocks, testicular blocks, oral (dental) nerve blocks, sacro coccygeal blocks, retrobulbar blocks, axillary blocks, and intercostal blocks.

We will also discuss local anesthetic drug choices and additives for maximum patient comfort. Participants will receive personalized instruction in technique, anatomical landmark identification, drug selection, and dose calculation. Participants can start applying their skills at the clinic right away to take their pain management to the next level.
