Veterinary Anesthesia Nerds symposium provides two days of in depth continuing education seminars led by world class instructors Kristen Messenger, DVM, PhD, DACVAA DACVCP, Tammy Grubb, DVM, PhD, DACVAA, Tasha McNerney CVT, CVPP, VTS (Anesthesia), Stephen Cital RVT, SRA, VTS (Lab Animal), Darci Palmer LVT, VTS (Anesthesia), and Amanda Shelby, RVT, VTS, AVTA. Participants will gain insight into new topics in anesthesia and pain management with lectures on everything from novel local anesthesia techniques, innovative use of cannabis in veterinary patients, and new ways to manage difficult recoveries. Take your anesthesia and pain management skills to the next level to improve patient care and client compliance. CE credit available for veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
Small groups led by DACVAA Tamara Grubb and Mike Barletta will obtain hands-on exercises that emphasize best practices and techniques for local/regional analgesia in dogs and cats. Techniques using both canine and feline cadavers include: incision and infiltration blocks, testicular blocks, oral (dental) nerve blocks, sacro coccygeal blocks. retrobulbar blocks, axillary blocks & intercostal blocks
We will also discuss local anesthetic drug choices and additives for maximum patient comfort. Participants will receive personalized instruction in technique, anatomical landmark identification, drug selection and dose calculation. Participants can start applying their skills at the clinic right away to take their pain management to the next level.
This course is best suited for a veterinarian or veterinary technician in general practice looking to learn more about topic.
