About This Course

After three successful years of hosting the Women's Veterinary Summit at the Oquendo Center, this event comes to the Annual Conference as a bonding, relaxing, and educational experience presented at the world-class Four Seasons Hotel. Join us this year as we focus on well-being -- the benefits of boundary setting, the impact of perfectionism, and how institutional factors can influence individual and team well-being.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify important dimensions of well-being.
  2. Discover boundary setting techniques.
  3. Utilize self-reflection.
  4. Identify types of perfectionism and how to address this trait.
  5. Discuss and model the traits of a wellness ambassador within your practice.
  6. Recognize institutional factors that impact well-being within your workplace and profession.
  7. Ascertain methods to improve/expand institutional factors.

Practical Tools for Workplace Wellbeing (60-90 min)

  • Lecture on workplace wellbeing (individual and organizational factors)
  • Discussion on “how to be a wellness ambassador for your practice”
  • Group brainstorm re: ways to integrate wellbeing into the veterinary workplace

Systemic Wellbeing

  • In the past, we have focused on the individual’s role in their wellbeing, but there are factors impacting this in their environment. 
  • Systemic wellbeing involves the TEAM, PRACTICE, and ORGANIZATION
  • Each plays a role/are involved
  • How are support and inclusion involved in wellbeing and how can these be altered to improve the environment
